UX & SYSTEMS DESIGNER

Kelli Meyer — UX & systems designer.

I'm a UX and systems designer finishing a B.A. in Digital Innovation & Design at Boise State (August 2026). I came to design the long way around — roughly two decades running hospitality operations, most recently as a Regional Operations Manager — which is really where I learned to read complex systems and find the friction people quietly route around.

I design for that friction. My work tends to land where confusing systems meet the people who have to use them anyway: taxpayers reading school-district budgets, hobbyist engineers drowning in part choices, patients trying to orient inside an emergency room, plant lovers who can't rely on sight. I'm comfortable across the whole arc — research and synthesis, interface and prototype, and increasingly the code and data underneath, working in Figma, Python, SQL, and tools like Cursor and Claude.

I founded and ran The Levy Feed, a civic-tech venture developed through Boise State's Venture College incubator (concluded May 2026). Outside the work: French and Middle Eastern cooking, white-water rafting, and 34 houseplants that have opinions.

What I do / how I work

  • Read complex systems and surface the friction people quietly route around.
  • Treat user friction as data for redesign.
  • Work the whole arc — research and synthesis, interface and prototype, and the code and data underneath.
  • Design for the people who have to use confusing systems anyway.

Selected skills

  • Research — interviews, empathy mapping, usability testing, journey mapping, synthesis
  • Design — interaction design, prototyping, service & experience design, accessibility (WCAG), design systems
  • Data — Python, SQL, Excel, Census/APIs, data visualization
  • Tools — Figma, Replit, Cursor, Claude

Certifications

  • Boise State University (College of Innovation & Design) — UX Design; Data Analysis; UX Research (in progress); Innovation & Design (in progress)
  • Interaction Design Foundation — Human-Computer Interaction: Foundations of UX Design; Design Thinking; Conducting Usability Testing; Design for the 21st Century with Don Norman
  • Google / Coursera — Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate (8-course program: Python, R, SQL, Tableau)
  • CITI Program — Social & Behavioral Researchers (human-subjects research ethics)
